52
members were greeted by heavy rain which eventually relented
after 2 hours
which meant the earlier starters suffered the worst of the elements,
the course stood up very well
however and some good scores were achieved.
Chris Gill, the home professional, scored 35 points and his was one of
the first tee times,
he was just ahead of Dan Wood from the Ivy Leaf club by one point. In
the pairs Dan and Dale Howarth just pipped the pairing of Grant
Slater and Dave Holland
who finished ahead of John Sanders and Jimmmy Foy on last 9 count back.
The Newquay Captain, Dick Rundle, welcomed the Alliance to the club and
presented
the awards. Dan Wood the Alliance vice captain thanked the club for hosting
the event.
He was very impressed how the course stood up to the weather on the day,
the catering was excellent in house. The next Alliance
will be at West Cornwall on Monday 29th Feb
